Duct Tape Rockets In development

A 2D space sim for Android

Duct Tape Rockets

Build rockets from scrap. Fly real orbits.

Stack capsules, tanks and engines, light it up, and find out whether it holds together. Then reach orbit, put satellites to work, dock a station and land on the Moon.

Coming to Google Play

A rocket built from game parts: a riveted white crew capsule, an orange-banded decoupler, a fuel tank patched with silver tape and fitted with two fins, and a sea-level engine.

What you do

Build it

Snap capsules, tanks, decouplers and engines together in a side-view builder. Every part has mass, fuel and thrust, and the numbers tell you whether it will make orbit.

Fly it

Real orbital mechanics: gravity, apoapsis, periapsis and transfer windows, with time warp for the long coasts between burns.

Put it to work

Satellites and stations have jobs. Relays extend how far you can fly, and docked tanks become fuel depots in orbit.

Land it

Parachutes, heat shields and landing legs for the Moon and Mars, if you brought enough fuel to get back.

Some of the parts

Every part is game art from the builder, drawn side-on so it stacks.

  • Crew capsule
  • Probe core
  • Kerolox fuel tank
  • Stack decoupler
  • Kerolox engine
  • Hydrolox engine
  • Relay antenna dish
  • Landing leg

Where it's at

Duct Tape Rockets is in early development at Space Junk Industries. The orbital maths runs, the first parts are drawn, and the flight prototype comes next. A Google Play listing and test builds will follow.
